Briefing document (for media and policy makers) with outline background, context and key facts available to download: Briefing Document

As you may be aware, the Awami League government is doing everything within its power to bring  political opposition leaders  before the ‘international crimes trial’ on charges of war crimes. The charges are for horrific crimes including genocide, rape and arson. These allegations are false and politically motivated. Over 40 years, no genuine evidence linking Professor Ghulam Azam or the other accused politicians has been forthcoming. For more information, please see ‘Factfile’ page .

The government has already passed judgement on the accused and they have no chance of real justice. They have not even been given the ordinary constitutional rights afforded to every Bangladeshi citizen. Therefore the trial does not comply with national law, let alone international law.

Please support our campaign for justice.
